What is inside this Box? I kept asking myself when I tried to
shift that box to our new rented house.
I asked myself let me open this box of memories before transferring. Of
course those are the rare moments you try to open your box of memories. My brother always disliked my passion for books
and those little things I carry. He always used to tell me throw those wastes which
are not useful. How Can I explain, those small things matters a lot to me.
As I opened the box, first thing I saw was a headphone
gifted cover. Headphone is no longer with me but I have kept that headphone
cover just for the friends I met in LGSI. I know all those friends have
forgotten me but I am quite emotional towards people though I look like a
rigid, straight forwarded person. Professionally LGSI was much more than a
client location but where I worked much enthusiastically with passion. So I
remember them.
Then I saw some wedding invitations. I don’t have the habit
of keeping wedding cards, but some cards I had kept. I missed Sanath’s
marriage, attended Balgi’s marriage. That is how I relate those memories. Even I have that one card which hurt me moreJ. Now
a day, I rarely get a hard copy. Earlier
I used to get mail, now I am getting invitation in whatsapp.
Then I dug more deeply into the box. Now I have porcelain
water jar. It reminds me all those fancy dresses day in MT. MT has most
memorable place in my life. I remember I
wore that British soldier dress and people were scared. My joker part was
funnier and the ethnic chacha Nehru style was more decent. I looked it as my
involvement with the team. I really don’t care what people thought about me at
that point of time. I was literally crazy and you can see in those dresses.
When I see that
beautiful lady’s photo frame I got it in Nest, I have much more positive way of
looking at life than others who made fun of me. Nest is one place, where I
completely added fun factor to trips, birthdays and I was lucky to get the best
people. They gave me the best days and I must say they are the reason I came
out of shell. Solo travel and treks are all the positive encouragement from
them.
Then there were some family photos. I spent with my dad,
childhood friends. I used to go with Dad for areca nut tender. That is where I
learnt one or two tricks of business. I didn’t continue with my father’s
profession. May be I was lazy. May be dad didn’t want me to take his path. It
was not my Dad’s wish to make me an engineer. He wanted me to become a responsible
person. I am still trying to make him right but not yet successful.
Books: Tool to shape
our personality.
Then there were many books. Karvalo, my favorite book was shining
among those books. What I like in KP is, he kept his topic close to environment.
His narration is so simple; it really makes me to imagine the plot and
character. That is why his books are common in my gallery.
Rafa my story book makes me crazy. The way Rafa has handled
himself in public life is inspirational for all of us. Being humble is the most
difficult thing when success comes and you reach the top.
Brief History of Time is one awesome book, which never be
forgotten. Theories are not going to stay,
but the imagination they have put to explain the world.
Sherlock Homes stories are different bunch of stories which
makes the reader sit on your toe and read till the climax. Then there is Twilight series which I rate
lower because of the concept but higher because of the imagination. Avarana has
shown bigger insights into history. History is going to be the most debatable
subject and coming out with conclusion is entirely based on what you read and
what you take. These different kinds of books make you educate in different
way. Then there is Bettale Jagattu which excites me in sports and irritates me
in political section. Then there is Shiva trilogy, which I bought and never
read. Still that is one book I won’t miss to read in coming days.
Don’t laugh now after reading next statement. I have the
book which inspired me to take Vegetarianism to next level, “My experiments
with truth”. After reading this book I
have read many articles on the same and made tough decision to remain
Vegetarian forever. Nanna Tamma Shankara tells more into a Shankar Nag’s short
and visionary life. Then there is Nemai Sadan Bose’s Swami Vivekananda, the
person who has inspired youth more than any individual in India. Wings of Fire
has ignited many people’s mind and so as Wise and Otherwise by Sudha Murthy. Then
there is some translated Sanskrit works by Kalidasa and others, which made me
to take little interest in literature.
Then I have some of the legendary books like Dairy of Anne
Frank. The agony faced by her and her details into her innocent life just makes
me realize the difference between humanity and cruelty. Mukkajjiya Kanasugalu by Shivaram Karanth is
much beautiful than what the name indicates. It has logic much above religion,
thoughts much above humanity, will remain as the most thought provoking novel
for generations to come.
Then there is set of old reader’s digest I bought for
reading. I have finished with some but still more to read. All those magazines
are still there which made me crazy during college days (CSR Review). Several copy of
magazine which made me to always thirst for, O Manase is still with me. The
paper which had Sachin’s retirement and many such events are still with me. I
have planned to create a collage out of it.
These books shape us more than we shape them. That is the reason they
are beautiful part of my life. (You can find the books I read in GoodReads or

There it is my green peace badge. I am not sure of the role
of Green peace in cheating Indian developments. I even can’t say about foreign
funding they got to stop developments in India. But I and manji were donors for
Green peace. We have stopped ever since we got to know they are behind money
than green revolution. I even stopped taking calls from sources in which I
don’t even know where our money goes. Samarthanam is one NGO I completely
believed, the money goes for the needy. We can see those happy faces. Now we
are planning to start NGO of our own, we can implement our own plan.
We also don’t want to end up like people who make hue and
cry of things but can’t even do a single things for humanity. Some people think
by cleaning roads they will clean whole of India. But there was bigger vision
of Gandhiji in this. Why I don’t even think of participating in such events is,
I have to overcome my laziness. But what I am doing is at least courtesy of not
throwing any wastes on the roads. Not to litter during trekking is our most important
rule. Now what I need to continue is experiences I have got it from Teach
India (Youth for Seva) and Mindtree foundation. A big vision is inside the box.
A lot of ideas are inside the box. Inside the box also means within our
capacity and without getting deviated from the action we meant. Inside
the box means what we learnt from inside the box. Inside the box means transferring
what we learnt to next generation. Inside the box means inside us getting
happiness.
Finally Inside the box means improve as a person
intellectually. Our motto is education should reach every one and that education should make them decide what is good and what is bad. It should cultivate humanity and humilty, love for our nature and people, team work and all those good qualities which makes him educated.
